Topic A: Alternative Medicine: Threat or Solution.
Alternative medicine is the term for medical products and practices that are not part of standard care. Standard care is what medical doctors, doctors of osteopathy, and allied health professionals, such as nurses and physical therapists, practice. We live in a world where the discussion of the effectivity and danger of alternative medicine is constantly questioned. Alternative medicine is practiced all around the world and many people rely only on this type of medicine.
Your aim with this topic is to find out if alternative medicine should continue as an option or if it should be extinguished.
Topic B: Ebola: An international Health issue or a Political Convenience.
The Ebola virus causes an acute, serious illness, which is often fatal if untreated. The current outbreak in West Africa, (first cases notified in March 2014), is the largest and most complex Ebola outbreak since the Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976. There have been more cases and deaths in this outbreak than all others combined. It has also spread between countries starting in Guinea then spreading across land borders to Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The current situation is more than just a failure of the health system. Both countries are also facing the wrath of neighbors, who have decided to close borders, and cancel flights.
Although Ebola is a high-risk disease there are more deaths caused by Malaria each day than the ones caused by Ebola so your aim with this topic is to discuss if the attention given to Ebola has been the correct one.
