Juan José Salamanca
Undersecretaries for the
Special Agencies
Dearest Delegate,
Welcome to Special Agencies!
We really admire the dedication and effort you have all shown by accepting the challenge of trying to make this world a better place for all of us. We certainly feel identified with you and we are really proud of your choice, we can assure you´ll have an amazing time here at Special Agencies.
We hope that during the following days you learn from our world and develop different skills, but most of all, we really hope you have fun.
We as undersecretaries have traveled and experienced different Models of the United Nations. We have known several types of debating, cheering and country positioning, and that’s why we chose these committees and these topics. We want you to enrich your knowledge while having fun when doing it. We want you to focus and develop your position in an almost-replica mood on the topics, and we think these are very interesting ones that will allow you to do just that.
As one of your Undersecretaries, I, Juan José Salamanca, recommend you to look for as much accurate information as you can. If you don’t find it, don’t worry. You can always improvise a little, and that’s exactly how a debate becomes dynamic. I’ll give you an example: It’s absolutely unflattering if I know all of my country’s postures, gestures or whatever. I need to add a little bit of that spicy thing that will make my country feel alive and inside the debate. You can always improvise, just never lose your focus on the topic, and always try to be coherent with what your country states. I’ll be checking on your debating rooms to see how you are doing.
I truly believe the most important thing during a debate, besides what Juan José stated, is to feel confident about yourself. You are ready for this moment, you have been searching for information, and you know the topic, now you are ready to share with everyone what your country believes. No one knows better about your country than yourself so feel confident I am sure you are going to do a fabulous job. Remember to organize your ideas before speaking so that your speech is always crystal clear for everyone else.
Please do not hesitate in letting us know if you have any doubts concerning the debate or any other issue you might need to discuss. Send a mail to specialagencies.tjmun@gmail.com We will always be there for you.
As your undersecretaries, it is our duty to help and assess you on the marvelous journey you’re about to begin with this XX Edition of the Model of the United Nations at Thomas Jefferson High School. Always remember to give your best part and your best arguments. We wish you the best of lucks,
Sincerely,
Juan José Salamanca A.
