General Assembly

Respected delegates:

I would like to begin by thanking you for being part of this edition of the TJMUN, which is for me, the most important school event of the year. I am very honored to be the Undersecretary of the General Assembly, and the reason for this is that it is a very important agency of the United Nations. Here, it is very important to manage situations with the seriousness they deserve, because we are facing true and big problems in the world and this is our chance to begin doing something about it.

I consider extremely important for young people to be concerned and interested in all that is happening in the world. In my case, I chose the topics I consider to be both relevant and of general interest. I hope you enjoy the 3 days of debates and use it to grow not only as a student, but also as a person.

What I am seeking for in this TJMUN is for delegates to reach realistic solutions, which develop their critical thinking and to expand both their knowledge and their vision of the world they live in.                                            I truly hope each one of you enjoys this experience and make a great effort to make yours an intelligent, interesting and challenging debate.

To conclude, my only advice is for you to take advantage of every opportunity to learn from others and make yourselves better. Enjoy every moment and every person you meet.

Welcome to the twentieth edition of the TJMUN.

Yours faithfully,

Renata Rodríguez Muñoz

Undersecretary of the General Assembly
